Highlight entries we had received for ‘The Art of Xero Error Competition’ .
Mark Poe from Alabama, USA, who turns 48 this month, has lived in the southern United States all his life. He has been drawing since he was 3 years old and has wanted to be a cartoonist since. He was greatly influenced by the 1960’s & ’70’s Marvel Comics.
As Mark got older he could not get work doing comics but did do commercial art, mostly T-shirt designs. He has been working as a full time commercial artist for over 25 years. In 1992, Mark and some friends got together and did several comics that they published on the Independent Market. They were mildly successful but not enough to do the work full time. He stopped doing comics for about 15 years but in 2008 he established a web site to host all their old comics work, and will feature new material soon. This site can be seen at http://www.megacomicsgroup.com .
Mark likes the concept of XE7 and Xero Error, and doesn’t think anything exactly like this has been done before. This is a new twist on the old concept with some fresh innovations. With the technology available today for special effects he can see this movie as being a lot of fun. Mark realizes it’s science fiction, but he sees it as being a super hero film as well. His art competition entry was made with this in mind: XE7 being a hero of the people, defending the defenseless.
