April 1st 2010 saw Xpanse CGI the team behind Xero Error announce their first CG film ‘Levity - Xero Error Minus1′ in Dubai UAE.

The press conference which was held last Thursday at the Knowledge Village was focused primarily at the world premiere of the film to be showcased at the 3rd Gulf Film Festival in Dubai. Present on the panel were Ashraf Ghori [Creator, Director of Xero Error], Mohammad Mondal [Associate Producer], Waqqas Qadir Sheikh [Associate Producer], Phat Mo [Actor / Singer], and Nizam Mohammed [Motion Graphic Designer] and was MC’d by Ritesh Jeswani.

The first on the panel Mohammad Mondal started with a brief synopsis of the film and Director Ashraf Ghori brought the press upto par on how the film was put together. Waqqas Qadir Shaikh discussed the financial aspects of ‘Levity - Xero Error Minus1′. “It doesn’t matter if they shoot films here…at the end of the day when that movie sold and released, the revenues are not coming to your country over here. The film industry business is you make it wherever you want to, but you produce it out of here, sell it to the world and the revenues come back here. We cannot expect the film industry of the UAE to flourish until and unless we make something which is worldwide appealing” added Waqqas.

Actor/Rapper Phat Mo who has a prominent role in the film expressed his reason of being part of the film with a touch of humor. He told the press that it was the love and dedication for the film and not the expectation of getting money is what will make this film big.

Our biggest supporter and constant source of encouragement Nayla Al Khaja, UAE’s first female filmmaker could not make it owing to last minute commitments, but sent us a positive beaming video message saying how proud she was of Ashraf & the team. She urged the press to support UAE filmmakers. The press conference ended with a Q&A session clearing the ever curious minds of the press and giving them a clear picture of what the film is about and what we wanted them to know.

LEVITY - Xero Error Minus1 World Premiere at Gulf Film Festival 2010.
Dubai festival City April 10th & 11th

LEVITY - Xero Error Minus1 is U.A.E’s first Computer Generated SciFi film. It will become part of a series of CG films in the ‘Xero Error’ universe.

These films are planned as events in history that are witnessed by the time traveling cyborg hero XE7. LEVITY - Xero Error Minus1 will be premiered at this year’s Gulf Film Festival in April and various other international film festivals. Its international premiere is planned for Cannes Film Festival in May.

Created, scripted and directed by Ashraf Ghori, this 8 minute film was produced by Xpanse CGI an animation studio based in Dubai Media City. The voice acting for this short was provided by 9 Dubai-based talents, with a team of 7 behind its production and 3 working on business development.  It took 4 months to complete the production.

Director Ashraf Ghori began initial groundwork on Xero Error two years ago and has since gained a steady fan following for Xero Error from 88 countries worldwide. Xpanse CGI plans on a full length Xero Error feature film which will be announced at a later date.
